A Balkan Spacewalk

Graham Latham This is a really beautiful collection of mostly ambient synthscapes, but layered with enough textures and auxiliary sounds to keep the listener engaged throughout. It's introspective and understated, but no less inviting for it. There are fewer found sound or room noise elements than in previous work, and somehow that makes these songs feel a bit closer, more intimate and direct. Great stuff! Favorite track: Shore.

Jim Penola The Brothers Christoff have crafted a sophisticated collection ambient/electronic music with “A Balkan Spacewalk.”

Not only is there a consistent human element that keeps the music warm and within reach, but the mood remains compelling and accessible throughout. Lovely work. Favorite track: Balkan Circuits.

about

It is with great honor we bring to Alien Garage this special work to be enjoyed during the transitory months of the autumn season and beyond. Nature and technology converge in a blissful ensemble of sounds and emotion.

"A Balkan Spacewalk" dives into rhythmic zones, and incorporates both field recordings and acoustic guitar. It is the latest chapter in a series of sessions that Jordan and Stefan have shared over the past years during moments within in the same geographical space. The recordings were created during a series of live sessions both in Tiohtià:ke / Montréal, and also on the west coast, on traditional territories of the Lkwungen (Lekwungen) peoples.

Anarchist Mountains exists between spaces geographically as well as spiritually. It is a musical dialogue created in brotherhood and with an awareness of its creation taking place in a moment of global crisis that is ecological, economic, and spiritual. The duo is passionate about creating a space to find a sense of grounding within a life experience while contributing concretely toward movements for justice.

This release is shared with the world after Anarchist Mountains joined forces with sound artist Joseph Sannicandro, for the release La terre et la force, that was shared with the world by the independent Bulgarian label AMEK.

Alien Garage releases are the product of efforts from DIY artists around the globe. Anarchist Mountains' "A Balkan Spacewalk" is no exception. We are pleased to present this musical artwork and audio-montage of our planet in the present day.
